Mitchel to Quilpie

Thank goodness Leeroy woke us up at 9am to wish Fanie ‘Happy Father’s Day’. It was freezing. Faan got up first and started the tea and coffee. He then told me to hurry up as he could see the rain coming.

Not so easy to hurry up as I have to fold all the blankets and pack them under the bed. Fold up the toilet and pack all the toilet goodies under the bed too. Just got all that done when the rain arrived. Fanie hadn’t finished the drinks as the kettle hadn’t boiled (the wind kept blowing the flame out). Fanie was a happy little veggie might (like bovril) Not! He threw the water out and we hurried to close the camper up, put the kitchen away and get out of the rain.

Because we didn’t have our morning drinks we went back into Mitchel. Oh the coffee was so good. Warmed us up a bit. We also got a toastie for brekky. The photo below were outside the cafe.

Farnie had a bottle tree (above) which he had as a bonsai for about ten years. We have no planted it in our garden and it is growing well.

We had rain up until just before Charleville where we stopped for fuel. Servos (petrol stations) are going to become more and more infrequent as the towns get further away from each other.

When Fanie drives he has to nibble constantly so I have a cooler bag at my feet to feed him from. When I drive, the cooler bag is put in the back of the car and hey sleeps. I just make sure I have something to drink and listen to my audible book.I use earphones as I don’t think he would appreciate my love stories.

Damn is was freezing when we got to Quilpie. The wind was blowing gales. We stopped at a caravan park just outside of Quilpie. It was a very large open paddock without a tree in sight. Did an about turn and are now in a very pleasant park with a few spas where you can enjoy the water from the Artesian waters.

Faan cooked dinner while I was busy with the blog. He took a tin of Braised Steak & Onions, add a bit of curry powder & coconut cream. Gosh it was delicious.
